Have yet to make a trip over 100 miles but have given it a work out,I like its many features, its screen size, speaker is much louder and clearer than past magellan's I have had.
CCon Past gps showed you the turn from your starting point not this example old magellan showed left out of my drive go 2mile make r. This waits till I get to end of drive and make a turn then say r turn in 2 mil or rerouting because I made a l have not figured out how to know which way for the first turn of a route.
I have an e63
Nokia the blue tooth works but you have to do 3steps on the Magellan and one(accept)on phone every time you use it to much trouble will be traveling several hundred miles soon so will have an up date of how works in real world

The magellan 4700 could be one of the best GPSs out there, if it works. When I plot a route to Florida, it will reboot ifself repeatedly with the same message "Your device needs to be restarted to increase performance. Please wait while your data is saved.". I posted it on Youtube.

Having owned a couple of the Roadmate series units I thought getting this unit would be an "upgrade."
Unfortunately the unit is riddled with annoying "features." that will drive you mad.
1. The one month "trial subscription" to the traffic alerts stinks. a. It never worked (I live in the NY/NJ area...) and b. once the subscription ended I decided not to continue, I can't get the pop-up reminders to go away. Ever day it throws an interruption on the screen announcing that my subscription has ended would I like to renew or "don't remind me." I always choose "don't and it "keeps on giving!"
2. The unit is constantly ignoring major roadways and trying to divert me off a straight and logical path to my destination. IE: Trying to take the Palisades Parkway from a stop right off one exit to a stop right off another exit: The 4700 announces a turn off at every exit as if the Palisades does not exist. (I know... there are some of you that think I clicked the option to prefer LEAST use of highways... not so.)
3. When using the car power option, the unit powers down stating that the battery is not charged.... I have to reboot for it to work again.
4. When approaching a selection of choices on a major highway, instead of showing the colorful path to the RIGHT, MIDDLE or LEFT, graphics of ROAD signs appear over the screen blocking your view of the map just when you need it the most! It's maddening!!
4. Lost is the bell that announces turns. If you owned the Roadmate series, you may have loved this little feature. Like Pavlov's dog I would make turns to the right of left based on these little bongs. Now... they are gone and I have to hear the warbled directions of the crappy voice over. This brings me to:
5. The crappy voice over. The speakers are awful and the voice is terrible. IE: 42 Main Street sounds like "footyboo mun st-a-leet"
6. Navigating the screens is NOT logical. The ONE TOUCH feature is a JOKE. Trying to find the screen that offers "HOME" is like playing a video game.
7. Response time to data entry will make even the most patient person throw the unit out the window. With every key stroke I have to wait 3-5 seconds to see if it went through or if I have to type it again. (You never know...)
8. Finally: I can't stand this unit. I'm waiting for a sale offered by another manufacturer so I can chuck this one in the garbage where it belongs.

this is a lousy GPS
The voice commands are useless. They are limited in what you can ask and its better to just touch the screen.
Most importantly, the actual car position is 20-50 feet ft ahead of the icon. Go to an intersection and you see the car triangle much behind your actual position in the intersection. Drive past the intersection an you will see the triangle approach the intersection. This is with the firmware ver 2.20. You pass each street before the map shows you approaching the street. This is a well documented problem with this and other Magellan units. What good is GPS that has very poor tracking?
